Taura Mangone, lovingly known as “Tasha Baby” and “Sugar Auntie,” age 50, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a devoted resident of Albuquerque, where she made a lasting impact on everyone who had the joy of knowing her.
Taura was born on August 7, 1975, in Denver, CO to her beloved parents, Mother- Eloise Williams and Father-Lynn Townsend Hill, who preceded her in death.
A gifted educator, Taura dedicated her heart and talent to NorthStar Elementary School in Northeast Albuquerque, where she taught for __ years. She was known not only for her skill in the classroom, but for the joy, creativity, and warmth she brought into her work each day. She was a true asset to her school and to the community she served so passionately.
Taura carried a vibrant personality that everyone gravitated toward. She was outspoken, sassy, witty, and full of life. Her incredible sense of humor, intelligence, and openness made her easy to talk to and deeply cherished by her friends, family, and students. She was an amazing storyteller, a natural nurturer, and a loving, supportive presence to those around her.
Those who knew Taura will forever hear her signature phrase — “Girl, listen…” — a saying she used to grab your attention, offer wisdom, deliver a joke, or share one of her unforgettable stories. It was her way of showing love, guidance, and humor all at once.
Outside of her work, Taura found joy in concerts, music, and gardening—places where her lively spirit and creativity thrived. Above all else, she was immensely proud to be a mother and treasured every moment with her daughter.
Taura is survived by her beloved daughter, Devyn Mangone, and leaves behind countless friends, her "Mexican family", colleagues, students, and community members who will forever hold her memory close.
