On Sept. 4, 2025, at 9 a.m. Her final resting place will be held at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband.
It is with deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rita M. Romero-Chavez, a devout catholic, loving wife, cherished mother and grandmother, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She departed this life peacefully at the age of 93, joining her beloved husband, Pat Chavez, in heaven. Rita was surrounded by the love of her family.
Rita was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on Feb. 5, 1932, to the late Rosalio Romero and Antonia Armijo. Rita later moved to Albuquerque, N.M. where she met her husband, Pat and were married for 30 years.
She is survived by her children, Antonio L. Casados, Cecilia (Guillermo) Casados-Montanez, Tommy L. Casados, and Rita Casados-Vigil; along with 33 grandkids.
She preceded in death by her parents, Rosalio Romero and mother Antonio Armijo; husband Pat Chavez; grand-daughter Consuelo Casados; brothers Joaquin (Alice) Romero, Joe Romero, Sr., Daniel Romero, and Pat (Jessie) Romero, Sr.; sisters: Helen (Feliciano) Herrera, Josefita (Jacobo) Garcia, Donaciana (Catalino) Vigil, and Mary Warsaw.

A rosary and mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque, N.M. at 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, N.M. 87102
