Edward Ernest Heyen

July 05, 1944 -- April 23, 2025

Edward Ernest Heyen of New York, California, Ohio, Arizona, North Dakota and most recently New Mexico, born July 5, 1944 and died April 23, 2025 at the age of 80. An accomplished scholar and musician, he maintained a comprehensive classical music library and could play the piano by ear. He was fluent in German and English and taught at the high school level for many years. He earned his Masters in teaching at Oswego University in NY. Predeceased by parents Henry and Minnie, brothers Werner and Henry Jr., daughter Stephanie, first wife Jeanne and beloved third wive Miriam. He is survived by daughters Shelley and Kimberley, brother William, several nieces and nephews and grandchildren Paige, Bryan, Autumn, and treasured friends and neighbors from his forever home in Albuquerque. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Canyon Transitional Rehabilitation Center along with Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care. Herr Heyen was my German teacher from 2002-2004. I am sad to hear of his passing. But I am happy to see he was loved. Please know he will be remembered as a teacher who had the patience and passion to make an impact on so many kids.
