Mike Barker passed away on March 4, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was 72. Mike’s career and life took him across much of the United States. He worked as an account executive and product manager specializing in organic supplements and wellness, a field that reflected his deep interest in health, vitality, and helping others live well. Through his work, he built lasting professional relationships and brought passion and integrity to everything he did. A graduate of West Virginia University, class of 1976, Mike was also a gifted musician. He was an accomplished autoharp and banjo player who loved oldtime fiddle tunes and folk music, always sharing that joy with friends and family. A lifelong athlete, Mike’s determination and competitive spirit never faded. Later in life, he continued to challenge himself, competing in—and winning—multiple endurance wheelchair races, inspiring many through his resilience and strength. Mike is survived by his wife, Erin Benvenuti; his children, Justin Barker, Mackintosh Barker, and Sarah Smith; and his sisters, Nancee Barnette and Cathy Banks. He will be remembered for his music, perseverance, curiosity, and the wideranging life he lived.
