Irene Maldonado was born on June 13 1961 at Cibola General Hospital in Grants New Mexico. Irene lived in Albuquerque where she passed away at home on Sunday the 26th of October. Irene had a passion for cooking and shopping. She loved her clothes and blankets more than anyone else. Her home was always inviting and cozy. Irene’s love for cooking was like no other! She could make a mountain of tortillas, tamales, and enchiladas in no time and would laugh and say, “I like to cook for an army.” She especially loved her family and would do anything for them and would often travel to see her kids who lived in another state just to spend time with them. Irene loved for everyone to gather at her house for any occasion even if there wasn’t an occasion. Irene is preceded in death by her parents Ernesto and Frances Serna, her brother Amado Serna, her sisters Angela Baca, Sylvia Abbott and Marlene Martinez, her beloved son Carlos Arballo who recently passed on March 28, 2025. Irenes heart was broken when she lost Carlos and never fully recovered from the tremendous loss, her heart was truly broken. Irene is survived by her husband Raul Maldonado her kids Candace Chavez, Joseph Arballo, Jordan Arballo and Joshua Arballo her grandkids Justin and Mikayla Serna, Julian and Jaydan Arballo and many nieces and nephews her brothers Reuben, Alex and Ernest, sisters Lucy, Dorothy and Annette. Irene will be missed and remembered by the legacy of the love she had for her family.

Auntie Irene was a 2nd mother to me. She welcomed me into her home and her family and raised me as one of her own. She was very generous and would go above and beyond for those she loves. She did everything she could for me. Im forever grateful to for her. She will be dearly missed by everyone. Always loved and never forgotten.
