Clifford Scott Holmes

April 20, 1936 -- February 03, 2026

Clifford Scott Holmes, born April 20, 1936, in Muskegan, Michigan, and died at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque on February 3, 2026, a couple months shy of his 90th birthday. He served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958 and in the reserves until 1962. He is survived by his children, Debra Marquis of Deepwater, Missouri, and Michael Holmes, his sisters, Mary Lou Seymour of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Judy Somers, of Fremont, Michigan; his adopted family in Albuquerque, affectionately known as Grandpa Scott to all who loved him, Stella Ortiz, Monica Huff, Michael Tafoya, Anthony Huff, and Khataire Huff, along with the rest of the Ortiz, Tafoya, and Huff families. He worked various cement construction jobs, including at Sandia Labs and KAFB. He was an avid Lady Lobo basketball fan and Denver Broncos fan. Grandpa Scott loved camping at Mount Taylor with his Albuquerque family, attending various athletic and school events, and family gatherings for holidays and birthdays, babysitting and watching the younger ones grow up, picking them up and taking them to school and fun places, entertaining them, teaching them, and telling jokes. We knew he could always be counted on and that he could count on us. He was the best grandpa and friend anyone could ask for. A celebration of life will be held in July. We love you, Grandpa Scott.
